Flexible permissions down to individuals |

explanation: The FCS offers flexible permission assignment. Each piece of information ("fact") can be provided with read and/or edit permissions. Permissions are either assigned to user groups or to individual persons. There are no limits to the number of groups or to the number of group members. concrete examples: co-operation on an article If co-operation on an article is desired, two or more authors are involved. In the early stages, read and edit permissions are limited to the authors. After the article has been finished, read permissions may be extended to other groups in order to get feedback or approval. However, edit permissions are still limited to the authors. Eventually, the final version of the article is made available to all users of the platform without any exceptions by extending read permissions. sensible data A company operates a platform for internal knowledge exchange. In most cases, it is desirable that employees communicate across departments. On other occasions, it makes sense to limit permissions for specific information to certain groups or departments. A typical example would be the accounting department. Accounting usually deals with sensible data which is only intended for user groups or departments such as "accounting" or "management". In exceptional cases, it has to be possible to provide selected individuals with read or edit permissions. |
